All members and friends of the greater Pleasant Pond – Cobbosseecontee Stream community are invited to attend our 2026 PPCSLA Annual Gathering, Saturday July 11th, at Carrie Ricker School in Litchfield, to enjoy a potluck lunch, great members-only raffle prizes, a 50/50 raffle for everyone, and, most importantly, to celebrate our community. We’ll hold a short business meeting to learn about our lake association and elect our first Board of Directors (see below for candidates). We’ll have guest speakers from our partner organizations who will address aquatic invasive species and water quality issues in the watershed, and ways that we can work together to protect our wonderful lake and stream resources. The Annual Gathering is a marvelous opportunity to meet and make new friends, to learn about what’s happening on our lake and stream as well as the greater Cobbossee Watershed, and to learn how you can get involved as a volunteer. We’ll be meeting at Carrie Ricker School so weather will not be a problem. We look forward to seeing you there!

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE RAFFLE PRIZES!!: As part of the Annual Gathering festivities we will hold a raffle among 2026 PPCSLA members to give away special prizes! If you are a 2026 dues-paid member of PPCSLA, you are automatically included in the drawing – one ticket per membership. We have some excellent prizes lined up! 50/50 RAFFLE! We’ll hold a traditional 50/50 raffle with tickes available throughout the meeting up until the drawing. You will be able to purchase raffle tickets on-site for $1 each. Winner takes home half of the ticket money. This is another great way to help support the PPCSLA!

Board of Directors Election and Candidate Statements (up to 11 members will be elected)
The Bylaws of the PPCSLA stipulate that a Board of Directors will replace the volunteer Steering Committee at the first Annual Gathering of the PPCSLA membership. Board members are elected by a vote of the membership present at the Gathering. The board shall have no more than 11 members, and a minimum of 5. Any member can stand for election to the board of directors. Below are listed the current ccandidates standing for election to the board. If you are a 2026 member and would like to stand for election to the board of directors, please send a mugshot photo of yourself and a brief statement of why you want to become a board member to: anderson.gregoryj.me@gmail.com. Board members serve 2-3 year terms. There are two board seats available needing candidates, and, if attendees are interested and willing, two people can be nominated at the Annual Gathering. Hello! I have served as the President/Treasurer of PPCSLA since August 2025 when the Steering Committee first formed. I am passionate about protecting our lake and stream and seeing the PPCSLA flourish as we move forward as an organization. You can learn more about me on the Steering Committee page. I have had a camp on Pleasant Pond (Military Lane, Litchield) for over 50 years. I have served as the Vice President of the Steering Committee since last August. I want to maintain the beauty of our pond through service on the PPCSLA board.
My name is Tim Burr and I would love to continue on as a board member. My wife and I have a home on the pond in Litchfield as well as our brother and sister-in-law. My wife’s family has been on the pond since the 1970’s. We are invested in the long term health of our pond and the stream.
I moved to Pleasant Pond in May, 2025, where I now live near the Thorofare Road boat launch in Litchfield. I am an environmental scientist with an environmental consulting firm, and I work on several aspects of aquatic ecosystems, including assessments for aquatic invasive species. After serving on the PPCSLA Steering Committee, I am excited to become a part of the Board of Directors and to work to create a healthy pond and stream.
Hi! My name is John Meagher. My family has had land and a camp on upper Pleasant pond for about 50 yrs. I am grateful to have neighbors so committed to keeping our watershed a healthy one.
I have lived on Pleasant Pond (Richmond) for 28 years on land that has been in my wife’s family since 1896. I utilize the lake daily for recreation year round. I have a deep concern about protecting and improving the lake and stream water quality and to control the aquatic invasive species in both. I also want to help create a thriving community united by our shared love of the lake and stream.
I have had a camp on Pleasant Pond in Gardiner for over 10 years and have enjoyed spending quality time here. My wife and daughter enjoy the wildlife and want to see the pond preservedmoving forward. I hope to serve the residents on the pond in the best way possible. Thank you!
My adventures in Pleasant Pond and Cobbosseecontee Stream began in 1975. When my children were young we annually rented a camp on Pleasant Pond. This became our tradition. In 2010 I purchased my own camp that was located on Cobbosseecontee Stream in Litchfield. I am very grateful to be part of the PPCSLA team and look forward to working together to improve our watershed by serving as a board member.
My name is Beth Whalon, and my husband, Paul, and I have lived on Cobbosseecontee Stream and Horseshoe Pond in Litchfield since 1992. I’m hoping to help maintain water quality in our beautiful watershed by being part of the PPCSLA board.
